Product study / One product, two interiors

Maison Pastorale I

One product, two settings. A visual reference establishes the palette and atmosphere; the product remains the focus across the kitchen and toile-wall compositions.

Product image review

The details that matter.

My review priorities: preserve the product, make the setting believable and keep the collection visually coherent.

01 / Product fidelity

Compare the reference and scene: composition, colour relationships, edge detail and proportions.

02 / Believable placement

Inspect scale, wall alignment, light direction and contact shadows within the room.

03 / Collection coherence

Review light, palette and framing across the set, while allowing each artwork its own character.

Finished creative / Vertical ad

The product within
a lived-in story.

The finished ad connects the scenes through movement, voice, music and a closing approach to the artwork.

Midjourney / Reference-guided exploration

From visual direction to generated variations.

I combine visual references with written direction to explore new settings and editorial details in Midjourney. I compare the variations, select the setting and then integrate the separate product asset into the composition.

01 / Set the direction

Reference images guide palette, materials and atmosphere. The prompt defines the scene and its details.

02 / Compare variations

Review composition, light and styling across the generated candidates before selecting a setting.

03 / Integrate the product

Add the supplied artwork in a separate composition step, then review fidelity, scale and placement.

This capture documents the exploration stage. The paintings visible in these generated candidates are scene elements, not evidence of final product integration. The examples below show that later step separately.

Starting point / Visual inspiration library

Translate a mood into a new setting.

These photographs guide the visual direction: layered textiles, warm wood, rich colours and intimate reading spaces. I use Midjourney to create new interiors, then integrate the supplied product into the generated setting.

03 / Turn the image into video

A consistent motion treatment across the series.

0–6 seconds

The finished 9:16 still receives a steady, centred zoom from 100% to 110%. The artwork remains part of the original composition.

6–7 seconds

A separate, static House of Sun Editions end card closes the film. The image movement does not affect the typography.

Audio & export

An audio selection from Drive accompanies each Reel. The final output is a 1080 × 1920 MP4 at 30 fps.

These Instagram examples use a repeatable still-image animation preset. The ChatGPT + Runway product films are presented separately below.

010–1.5 s

The staircase

Visuals & camera: In blue striped pyjamas, she climbs a wooden staircase carrying a key. Keep her full figure and head in frame.

Voice: Why keep this room locked?

Sound: An intimate sense of mystery; footsteps on wood.

021.5–2.3 s

The closed door

Visuals & camera: She arrives at the closed upstairs door. Hold the anticipation before the lock insert.

Voice: —

Sound: Breathing and restrained music; no new voice line.

032.3–3.2 s

The key

Visuals & camera: Close detail of her hand turning the key in the lock.

Voice: —

Sound: A clear metallic click. Leave space in the score for the sound.

043.2–4.2 s

Entering the room

Visuals & camera: She opens the door and enters the dark sitting room. Maintain the direction of movement into the space.

Voice: —

Sound: A pause of curiosity; door movement and footsteps.

054.2–5.8 s

Searching for light

Visuals & camera: She walks towards the far wall. The unlit picture lamp and the canvas are faintly visible together, already at their final position and physical scale.

Voice: Where’s the light?

Sound: Quiet tension continues beneath the internal monologue.

065.8–6.7 s

The reveal

Visuals & camera: She presses the switch. The lamp and room illuminate; the artwork stays fixed in position and size.

Voice: Oh. I want this every morning.

Sound: Switch click. Begin the line at the illuminated reveal; the score starts to resolve.

076.7–8.0 s

The camera approaches

Visuals & camera: Move closer to the same wall through an intermediate composition. Keep the woman’s full figure, lamp and canvas visible, then continue towards the artwork without an abrupt jump.

Voice: Finish the preceding thought.

Sound: Mystery gives way to warm, intimate harmony.

088.0–10.5 s

The complete artwork

Visuals & camera: Show the authentic Maison du Lac I artwork in full, with all four edges visible. Maintain a slow, perceptible camera movement.

Voice: House of Sun Editions. For Home That Tells Stories.

Sound: The brand signature sits over a warm musical resolution.

0910.5–12 s

The painted detail

Visuals & camera: Continue the approach towards the painted fish and the original texture of the water. This is a closer camera view, not a change in the canvas size.

Voice: Complete the brand signature.

Sound: A soft musical tail.

Performance & sound direction

Natural, intimate American-English internal monologue. The opening question should convey curiosity rather than horror; the “Oh” coincides with the illuminated artwork. The planned score begins with restrained low strings, isolated piano and near-silence at the key turn, then resolves into warm piano, soft cello and airy strings. Use selective wood, breathing, key, door and switch sounds. Avoid a trailer-style impact or retrospective narration.

Visual continuity & product fidelity

Build the interiors from the product imagery and supplied architectural references. Use deep greens, aged stone, soft overcast light and natural shadows for the garden. References guide the direction; they are not copied as literal film frames. Keep full figures in frame whenever the shot calls for them.

Preserve the original artwork: no repainting, recolouring, changes to composition or artificial enlargement. Integrate the authentic asset into the canvas throughout the finished film. Blank canvases belong only to the preproduction storyboard. The planning brief specified a 24 × 30 × 1.25-inch variant, subject to product-size verification before rendering.

Camera sequence: wide view with person and canvas → slow dolly-in through the intermediate view → complete artwork with all four edges visible → closer painted detail. Maintain direction, axis, lighting, perspective and canvas position across the transitions. Keep the camera moving gently; do not freeze the intermediate or full-artwork shot.

Place the two-line end title outside the artwork and within the frame’s safe area. The original brief targeted 12 seconds in 4:5; the finished version shown here is 3:4. Time a natural voice performance before production, and adjust pauses and editing without speeding up the voice or losing the full-artwork view.

010–0.8 s

The garden

Visuals & camera: Open with an aerial view of the garden as she begins running towards the house.

Voice: Will he know it’s me?

Sound: The line begins over a cinematic fantasy-adventure score.

020.8–2.0 s

The entrance pillars

Visuals & camera: She first runs between the dark entrance pillars. Preserve the geography of the approach.

Voice: Finish the opening thought.

Sound: Footsteps on gravel; strings and light rhythmic motion.

032.0–3.3 s

The planted arch

Visuals & camera: She then passes beneath the planted arches. Keep the camera fixed behind the arch.

Voice: —

Sound: The music carries the run; no new voice line.

043.3–4.8 s

Waiting for recognition

Visuals & camera: She sees the dog with its back towards her at the threshold. He has not turned yet.

Voice: Come on, look at me.

Sound: Suspend the music just before the turn. The line is heard only once she can see him.

054.8–6.5 s

The reunion

Visuals & camera: The dog turns, recognises her and approaches. She bends to touch him.

Voice: Oh. You do. I missed you.

Sound: Deliver the line after he turns. Paws, a soft collar sound and breathing accompany the warm resolution.

066.5–7.0 s

Inside the home

Visuals & camera: Cut to a wide interior of the same house. She and the dog stand near the artwork, shown at realistic scale. Begin the camera’s advance.

Voice: Finish the emotion of the reunion.

Sound: The score carries the transition indoors.

077.0–8.0 s

The camera approaches

Visuals & camera: Move through a closer intermediate view of the same wall. Keep the woman, dog, lamp and canvas fully visible, and continue towards the work without jumping directly from the wide shot.

Voice: —

Sound: Resolving strings and woodwinds; no additional character dialogue.

088.0–10.5 s

The complete artwork

Visuals & camera: Show the authentic Maison Pastorale I artwork in full, with all four edges visible, while continuing the slow camera move.

Voice: House of Sun Editions. For Home That Tells Stories.

Sound: The brand signature accompanies the emotional resolution.

0910.5–12 s

The painted detail

Visuals & camera: Continue into the black painted animal and the original surface texture. Preserve the artwork’s composition and colours.

Voice: Complete the brand signature.

Sound: A soft musical tail.

Performance & sound direction

Intimate internal monologue, never a trailer voice or retrospective narration. “Come on, look at me” belongs to the shot of the dog facing away; “Oh. You do” follows his turn. The planned score uses moving strings, light woodwinds and discreet percussion during the run, a brief dreamlike tension before recognition, then warm, expansive strings without a fanfare. Do not suggest that the artwork is a personalised portrait of the dog.
